Yarrandale Road Level Crossing Update
Client: ARTC
Project Outline
The Yarrandale Road level crossing was included as part of the NSW government’s Level Crossing Improvement Program. Due to new developments in the area and increased traffic from heavy vehicles, it was decided this passive level crossing should be upgraded to a fully-automated level to provide greater protection to motorists in the area.
The existing stop signs at this crossing were replaced with high-intensity flashing LED lights with warning bells. Reflective boom gates were also installed to provide a physical barrier to the rail tracks. Due to a recent upgrade to an existing siding at the site, the works also had to incorporate train movements from the siding, as well as the main rail line.
We coordinated with several stakeholders on this project, including ARTC, the local council and a private rail operator. Our client was pleased to not only have the project completed on time and on budget, but they also expressed how happy they were with the quality and finish of the installation.
